I’m President & CEO of Unique Indoor Comfort (Boston Location), a second-generation family owned Heating and Air Conditioning company. Founded in 1995, Boston Unique is part of a family of licensees that are independently owned and operated but are bonded together by sharing management practices and our overall commitment to quality. I spent nearly 15 years in the HVAC field as a Apprentice, Installer, Service Technician, Install Foreman, and Sales Consultant and with my passion for in home sales and eating it was no surprise to my friends and family that I would make my living sitting at the kitchen table helping homeowners navigate through the total home comfort process.

John founded Broadreach Staffing in 2014 after a very successful run that initially began in the recruitment industry and transitioned into a number of enterprise sales and senior leadership roles for technology companies.

As a lifelong ocean enthusiast and waterman, John’s vision for Broadreach Staffing began after an extended sailing adventure with his wife and two children several years ago as they moved aboard their sailboat and traveled over 4000 nautical miles together.  It was during this unique life experience that John formulated his plans to return to his most fulfilling business experience – the recruitment industry.  John started Broadreach by building upon the core principles that are most important to him; developing strong, long-standing business relationships and saving clients valuable time.

John began his professional career after graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in economics.  John and his family still enjoy sailing locally, kiteboarding, diving, surfing and skiing in New Hampshire in the winter.

Having been in small business for my career in industries ranging from manufacturing to franchising, I have recently purchased PLP Composites, a commercial fiberglass light pole and flagpole manufacturer with 20 employees in Fitzwilliam, NH. I love businesses that make things and PLP makes a very high quality product with widely expandable markets. I live in Duxbury, MA with my wife and four kids (who are unfortunately mostly out of the house these days.) I am a past member of EO Boston and very pleased to be returning!

About me: I acquired a small business 10 weeks ago and I am transitioning in as the former owner is transitioning out. After getting my MBA, I spent a year living off of my savings looking for a business to buy. The deal closed the same week I completely ran out of money, so the timing was perfect! I’m currently living in Watertown MA with my wonderful girlfriend Anne and our equally wonderful dog, Nyxie. I’m 31 years old and have a degree in mechanical engineering from WPI. I joined EO because although I have an excellent group of mentors/advisers/investors, there are very few people in my life who understand the highs and lows of running a business and can offer useful advice. Although she is an excellent listener, I’m worried that if I try to discuss cash flow with her one more time, my girlfriend will leave me (joking). I also find meaning in helping other entrepreneurs and hope to contribute to others as much as I gain from my EO membership.
About my business: My business is named F&M Tool and Die. We specialize in manufacturing, repairing, and servicing injection molds, but between 10-20% of our business is general job-shop machining. Although the business has a very “manufacturing” feel to it, in a way we are a service business since many of our customers are paying us for our design expertise and quick-turn around. We are located in Leominster, MA, which is an injection molding hot spot. The building is shabby, the equipment is old, our very specialized workforce is nearing retirement, and we are constantly firefighting, so there is no shortage of things to keep me up at night. But, I’m optimistic about the future of manufacturing in the US and I can’t wait to start the process of transforming F&M from a good business to a great one.
